The poet is sitting in the porch at sunset and watching the sower. As it becomes dark, the sower's black silhouette looks very tall and great against the sky. Due to darkness and the poet's imagination, the old farmer appears so majestic and god-like that his height seems to reach the stars. It shows the poet's respect and awe for the hardworking farmer.

Figure of Speech: Hyperbole
Explanation:*Hyperbole is an exaggerated statement not meant to be taken literally. Here the sower is a normal human being, he cannot literally touch the stars. The poet exaggerates his height to show that the sower's work and personality is so noble, great and impressive that he looks like a giant figure touching the sky.
It also has Alliteration - repetition of 's' sound in seems, starry, skies.
